Arnie Clark, 68, spent most of his life unable to read due to dyslexia. The Illinois native and current Anna, Texas resident began learning to read almost two years ago with the assistance of the Allen-based Southwest Academy Learning Center. A mechanic by trade, Clark said he was inspired to learn to read in order to serve as a lecturn at the Catholic church he attends. He is also an enormous fan of film star John Wayne, collecting all of his movies and other items such as commemorative plates, plaques and posters.
